Creative STAR

Social Enterprise Activity

Creative STAR became a social enterprise thanks to funding from the UnLtd 4iP innovation fund. It's early days but from every tree grows from a little seed.

We undertake a number of different activities to help promote and support those involved in getting children outside. These include:

  • Providing small scale funding to specific projects. These have included: TeachMeet Outdoors, Buchan Countryside Trust, Children & Nature Network and Unplug'd 2012. All revenue from adverts on this website has gone towards funding the Try Before You Buy outdoor clothing boxes
  • Providing support, training and advice for free or reduced rates to clubs, charities and community groups. These are usually local and take place during the evening or at weekends
  • Writing the blog, I'm a teacher, get me OUTSIDE here! At the moment it's the only blog of its kind. Have a look and enjoy browsing the wide range of activities
  • Circulating information and news about outdoor learning and play activities to different networks in Scotland. Please get in touch if you want to be added to this list or if you have information you wish to be shared
  • Maintaining a Delicious site with lots of links, research, news articles and other informaiton about learning and play outdoors. Enter key words into the search facility and lots of bookmarked sites will appear (like magic)!

Our approach to developing learning and play outside advocates ongoing improvements to school grounds, the use of the local area, natural materials and the re-use of unwanted materials.

The creation of this website has been the result of the UnLtd 4iP funding along with generous support from Delta Solutions, who developed and host the website.
